Fall Series: Latin Voices

South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center

Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami brings the heat of Cuban nostalgia back to the Miami stage! Receiving rave reviews for their 2018 performance of Septime Webre’s “Juanita y Alicia” at The Joyce Theatre in NYC, Dimensions will fire up the main stage once again with this audience favorite, peppered with infectious 'dance-in-your-seat' Latin rhythms, played live by Alain Garcia & his Latin Power band. Rounding out the bill, a new ballet by Choreographer in Residence Yanis Pikieris to the elegant compositions of Cuba’s own “Gershwin”, pianist Ernesto Lecuona, and the South Florida premiere of Jimmy Orrante’s entrancing work, “Balanced”.

Enjoy a little girl’s dreamlike journey to the magical Land of the Sweets with the Sugarplum Fairy, dazzling costume characters, and Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score. The cast features DDTM dancers in the ballet’s starring roles, as well as a new generation of young artists - the talented students of Miami Youth Ballet.

Nutcracker on the Indian River

in Collaboration with Ballet Vero Beach

After a two year absence the full theatrical production of this critically acclaimed production returns! In this unique version, the ballet’s heroine, Marie travels on a holiday journey from NYC's Fifth Avenue Mansions and Grand Central Station railways to Vero Beach in the year of its founding (1919). Instead of dreaming of candy characters, in this Marie’s dreams are of the shores of the Indian River Lagoon, where she is entertained by all manner of local flora and fauna - from land crabs and manatees, to river otters and bougainvillea.

Hailed in The New York Times as “strong, sexy, and athletic”, Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, founded in 2016 by former Miami City Ballet principal dancers Carlos Guerra and Jennifer Kronenberg, offers audiences a fresh and diverse view of contemporary ballet and continues to thrill South Florida audiences and beyond with their infectious cultural vibrancy. The company will perform a dynamic bouquet of their signature works.

Lab Series 2023

Featuring close-up performances of a newly commissioned work for DDTM, “POSSIBLE”, by NYC based choreographer William Ervin, and more, DDTM invites you to join in a special ‘tete-a-tete’ discussion with the artists on the topic of building a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable future for ballet’s landscape. An intimate, and intellectual dance experience presented by SMDCAC and sponsored in major part by a Funding Arts Network A.W.A.R.E. (Artistic Works Addressing and Rethinking Equity) project grant.

DDTM on Tour: Signature Works

Made possible in part by a grant from South Arts, DDTM will present an array of our signature works, including Gerald Arpino’s “Light Rain” and “Adiemus” by Yanis Pikieris and David Palmer; bringing a taste of Miami to the premiere dance venue of Hilton Head, South Carolina.
